Our Workshop Teacher – Yvonne Yang

Yvonne Yang started Scottish Country Dancing in 1994 after a very persistent friend convinced her to try it; she loved it from the first step. She has been teaching in the Washington, D.C. area since 2005, and enjoys helping dancers achieve “A-ha!” moments when they understand a step, formation, or dance. In addition to teaching classes for the Northern Virginia Branch & Washington D.C. Branch, Yvonne also runs a Zoom Hybrid class twice a month, and actively participates in the Albany, NY Zoom Hybrid teaching team. Yvonne has taught at The Scottish Weekend and other workshops in the Mid-Atlantic area, co-taught an Intermediate DAA Course, trained a CTI instructor, and recently co-tutored a Unit 2/3/5 Teacher Candidate Course. In 2025, Yvonne co-coached and danced with a North American Mixed Team at the Newcastle Festival. Since 2020, Yvonne has been avidly learning Scottish Step Dancing on Zoom. Her other non-dance hobbies include assembling hand-cut wood jigsaw puzzles. Professionally, Yvonne is a Technical Director for Oracle.
